Avenger Saturday presents: "Red Moon" paperback

Decent cover although I wish George Gross (the artist) had used red in the art, not just relying on the layout team to use the color in the type and masthead.  Perhaps the paw print could have been a bloody print.  Still, nice illustration.

You can't go wrong with an episode that features Lamont Cranston as a waiter in a cafe run by Freddy the Frog?  Don't believe me?  Then tune in for yourself and listen to "They Kill With a Silver Hatchet"!

Avenger Saturday presents: "The Man From Atlantis" paperback

Well, nothing to compare this to since the original run of The Avenger pulps ended at #24.  So I guess I'll just have to say this is the best cover art for "The Man From Atlantis".  It is a rather nice cover if not very imaginative.  Not sure what New York City has to do with Atlantis.  I guess one has to read the tale to find out.

Lamont is forced to find The Shadow for Lucius Hawkes, the man with "The Touch of Death".  He intends to avenge his brother's death and is going to use Lamont to accomplish just that.  If you are squeamish about animal cruelty then skip to 5:20 of the play.  For some reason that bit has stuck with me ever since I first heard this episode.

Avenger Saturday presents: "Midnight Murder" paperback

A pretty decent, if typical, paperback cover.  I haven't read these stories and most definitely haven't read the paperbacks.  This cover makes me wonder if they changed the setting to the 1970s or if the art director just felt that showing a 1940s era plane on the cover would have hurt sales.  At least it is a better cover than the last pulp published...

...if only because the paperback lets the viewer know that the character is in the book.  The pulp cover features Mr. Nondescript, which would make a horrible name to feature on the masthead.

Swamp rats and college buddies.  Join Lamont and Margot as they try to help an old school chum who has fallen prey to the bride in black in an old Southern mansion.  Give "The Bride Wore Black" a listen.
