ON THE AIR: April 07, 1946

Ghosts dressed in white and "fatherly" love.  I should have run this during Father's Day...  Give this a listen if you like ghost stories and tales of paternal betrayal.

Avenger Saturday presents: "Death in Slow Motion" paperback

The paperback cover is far better than that odd pulp illustration.  I'm sure the cover reflects a scene in the story, but it just looks goofy.  Yep, the reprint did this story a favor with the new art.

Three sisters.  One fortune.  Do you suppose there is a scheming man involved in this?  Murder follows the money in this 1946 episode.  Sit back and thank your lucky stars that your siblings don't covet what you have.  Or do they...

Avenger Saturday presents: "Nevlo" paperback

A decent enough cover.  Well executed but, well, boring.  It looks like a couple of images slapped together.  Even though the pulp cover doesn't scream "The Avenger" with its characters, it's still a far more appealing image.
What do y'all think?  Paperback or pulp?

Ahhh, a classic.  I've listened to this too many times to count.  This is one that I first encountered on the album "The Shadow: Original Radio Broadcasts" from 1972.  This was the first recording I collected and it started an obsession with the radio series.  Sit back and listen to "The Walking Corpse" and thrill to a real classic episode.

Avenger Saturday presents: "The Hate Master" paperback

Ahhhh... I like this one.  It has a bit of a dramatic appeal.  More so than the most recent ones.

Yeah, better than the pulp cover.  But that's just my opinion.  What do you think?

If you want a horrifying concept to listen to, then tune into "Etched With Acid".  Marring a woman's face with acid over a gambling debt... brrr!  This is a cold racket run by a thug named Ricci, a man and criminal ring that The Shadow has to take down.

The Sunday Comics: The Shadow Comics #3 Bonus story page 1

This is one of the back up stories that accompanied The Shadow Comics.  Todays story features The Avenger in a tale titled "Death in the Glass Mountain".  Enjoy.

Avenger Saturday presents: "House of Death" paperback

Nicely rendered but absolutely devoid of any drama and action.  If the lightning going into his ear and the roiling sea are supposed to create some sense of intrigue, well they should have looked toward the original pulp.  Far more interesting than the modern take.

Crazy actor who cuts his own face off.  Fairly horrid concept.  Poor Billy will never be the same.  But leave it to Lamont and Margot to get into just enough of a jam figuring this out that Cranston's alter ego makes an appearance in time to save the day.  Sit back and enjoy "The Ghost Without a Face"!
