How does The Shadow community feel about Earl Mayan? As I've said before I favor Edd Cartier and Tom Lovell. I always thought of Mayan as not capturing the essence of The Shadow. I'm beginning to change my attitude. His work feels staged and heavily relying on photography but that is where we have ended up. He may have been a forerunner of today's commercial illustrator. I still prefer Cartier, Lovell and the one shot of Kinstler but Earl ain't as second rate as I had previously categorized him. What say all y'all?
