Charg, Monster!

I have read this one (albeit a loooooong time ago) and it was a great Shadow tale.  I do love this cover for the ring and the fact that it is in your face.  The "huge smokewagon" bursts forth, letting the reader know that The Shadow will be dealing justice.  What more can I say, this is great all around.  Give this review a look if you haven't read this terrific early story from the annals of The Master of Men.

Crime County

I know nothing of this story despite the fact that I own an original pulp version.  The thing that bothers me about this cover (besides seeing The Shadow's face) is the absence of the ring.  This review doesn't give much information either.  I guess I have to read it but unless I become a speed reader it'll be some time before I get to it.

Monday clew

I own this one.  One of only two original pulps I have.  Wish I had picked up any and all back in the late 70's and early 80's.  Now they just cost too much to get a complete collection.  Sigh...

Death By Proxy

Explosions in a lab!  An evil Shriner takes The Shadow down in a strange Middle Eastern wrestling hold!  The end is nigh!!!  Or so this cover would have us believe.  But... we know better.
I haven't read the story but this review let's us know that this is a tale of The Master of Men going solo.  No agents, no lawmen, just The Dark Eagle.  I have to say, I'm looking forward to this one.

Resumption of the clews

I took some time off to be with my son and take in a ballgame and a trip to the museum in the Pacific Northwest.  Had a good time.  Now the Master wants me back on task.  Give this clew a try, fellow agents.

Gangdom's Doom

Submitted as "The Shadow Cleans Up Chicago" this is the fifth published tale of our mysterious hero.  I read this one a long time ago and look forward to reading it again when it is reprinted by Anthony Tollin.  The cover is okay but significant because we get to see the first cover representation of the familiar hat and cloak.  Typical pulp art for the time.  It must've been exciting when fans saw it on the stands!
Gibson was still in the formative stages of fleshing out The Dark Eagle but was starting to get it all down by this one.  For those of you who haven't read this tale, check out this review by John Olson.

Shiwan Khan Returns

I've always liked this cover.  I think the spotlight works great and the rendering is well done.  The one thing I don't care for is the left sleeve being pulled up so far as to show so much of the white shirt underneath.  That whole dress shirt thing really is annoying and illogical.  However, I still like this cover overall.  The story?  I know about Shiwan Khan (what fan doesn't) but I haven't read any of the stories.  I am reading the series in as close of written order as possible so it may be some time 'til I get to it.  If you haven't gotten to it either then you can get an idea from this review.
