How things change

  As lurid as the pulp covers were I doubt that Street & Smith would have run a cover like this

to head the story "The Shadow Unmasks" instead of the classic Rozen painting.

  I really like the Alex Ross piece as it portrays (a bit too graphically) what Gibson hinted at in the early novels.  A man without a face!  Maybe it would have looked something like this...

  Still, the original is the one I prefer.
