Doc Savage: The Sinister Shadow

I gave this to myself for Christmas and read it as I traveled this past week.  What made it so enjoyable is that I also finished "Gangland's Doom" by Frank Eisgruber, jr and a big chunk of "Chronology of Shadows" by Rick Lai.  It was like filling in one of the gaps Rick spoke of.  I haven't had this much fun reading a book in a long time.

  1. The one thing that would have made this better is if there were interior illustrations. That, and a better cover.

  2. Great to have The Shadow back in prose. What did you think of the back cover in the graveyard?

  3. If you are speaking of the head shots then I don't have a problem. the renderings are nice enough although I don't think there is a great enough difference between likenesses, especially the 3 faces on Doc's right side. Plus, Monk should really be hideous in an apelike manner. My problem was with how The Shadow was rendered. He looks elongated and weirdly posed. Just not well done, in my opinion.
