This story has always been one of my favorites. It establishes some of the history of the man in black. I have always liked the Imperial ties more than the Oriental ties in the Shadow's background. Maybe because it was first and I have never been a fan of having facts changed for convenience sake. But in the days that the magazine ruled the newsstands, continuity was not a priority.
