DC and Dark Horse have kept the Shadow alive in recent years. The new stories may not be seen as canon but I really appreciate his occasional appearance seemingly from nowhere, emerging from the shadows to strike and then merging once again with the inky blackness of the night.
THE SHADOW STRIKES was an interesting run; I particularly liked the DARK HORSE stuff; I think Gianni was even better than Kaluta in limning The Shadow, and the two Gianni DH mini-series really presented The Shadow at the very peak of his mysterious, omnipresent and omniscient self; almost god-like.
