 Snakes alive!  A man who is so twisted over the death of his child that he believes his wife is becoming a snake.  Coincidentally, an extremely poisonous snake escapes captivity and roams free.  Tune in to "Death Coils to Strike" and be lucky that your mate ain't as nutty as this guy.

Saturday's random pulp cover:Doc Savage Magazine: "The Annihilist" December, 1934

 Red blood!  Doc is a man after all.  Looks like he took a shot to the heart (are you to blame?  You give love... a bad name!  Apologies to Bon Jovi)  Well painted cover, as usual.  It is unusual to see The Man of Bronze so close to his demise.  I guess one would have to read "The Annihilist" in order to find out what happens after this harrowing scene.

ON THE AIR: March 7, 1948

 Red eyes!  Slathering jaws!  A cursed family home!  Cue Margot and Lamont and their weekly trek into the strange and macabre.  Beware... beware "The Beast of Darrow House"!

Saturday's random pulp cover:Detective Story Magazine: August 30, 1930

This is the magazine (not this issue) that launched The Shadow.  Stories from this publication were broadcast starting July 31, 1930 and were narrated by "The Shadow" (voiced by James La Curto).  This prompted many listeners to ask for "That Shadow magazine" without realizing that Street & Smith was promoting "Detective Story Magazine".  S & S quickly realized that they needed to protect this new property and hired Walter B. Gibson to pen 4 tales to publish and thus create copyrights.  The rest is history, as they say.

ON THE AIR: February 29, 1948

 Another classic episode from the later years.  "The Man Who Was Death" dealt with that most amazing of issues, radiation!  Specifically, a radioactive experiment gone terribly wrong.  The scientist, saturated by the poisonous rays when an explosion tore apart his lab.  He then decides that before he dies he must... well, just take a listen and follow his deadly tour de force of crime and madness.  Will The Shadow prevail and save the city from the man of science turned criminal?  Only The Shadow knows unless you listen in.

Saturday's random pulp cover:Doc Savage Magazine: "The Mystery on the Snow" May 1934

Doc shows off some of his martial arts skills as he disarms a northwoods assailant!  Beautifully rendered illustration by Walter Baumhofer.  Doc looks positively locked in and knowing he will end this in a few quick moves.
