Love this cover! The pistol still looks a bit small but the perspective makes it palatable. It's a great cover for a great story. Read it.
Elements of this story were used to create "The Shadow Solves the Riddle of The Black Pagoda" in issue 71 of The Shadow Comics.

This cover always makes me think of Dracula. A dread being clad in black bent over the neck of a seemingly dazed woman. Even the upturned eye staring out at the viewer evokes the classic vampyre feel.

The Shadow appears to be kind of beat up here. Bullet holes in his hat and cloak. Maybe if he was using a full sized .45 he could put those punks in their places. Ah, Tinsley.
This was also published overseas in The Thriller Library under the title "Who is the 5th Napoleon?"
