Stanbridge Manor was haunted, but whether by real ghosts or by humans was the question, and The Shadow had the aid of Joe Dunninger, world's greatest "ghost-breaker," in this battle against supernatural crime.
This tale actually used a real person as a character, a friend and contemporary of Walter's.
"Joseph Dunninger (April 28, 1892 – March 9, 1975), known as "The Amazing Dunninger", was one of the most famous and proficient mentalists of all time. He was one of the pioneer performers of magic on radio and television. A debunker of fraudulent mediums, Dunninger claimed to replicate through trickery all spiritualist phenomena. - Wikipedia
The cover? Good enough and it has The Shadow on it. Whatever happened to his ring, I don't know. Just as I don't know what happened to his signature slouch hat. He almost looks like a hobo.
