At least this ain't one of them thar 'modern art' type covers. Well done by Modest Stein. Sure, it doesn't scream The Shadow but it's better than the last couple. The notable bit of trivia for this particular novel is that it is the last one from Theodore Tinsley. The Shadow in Review states that it is a low point in 1943 and also makes this observation.
"One final note, regards an obscene gesture made by Sam Romaine, one of
the crooks in the story. And obscene gesture, you say? A character in a
Shadow novel seen flipping off the police? Can it be? Yup, the bad guy
gives a policeman the "bird." Now you wouldn't see that in a Gibson
story. I wonder if Tinsley knew this was going to be his last Shadow
novel, and included that line as a "salute" to the editors. Probably
not, but it gave me pause to wonder..." - The Shadow in Review
