"The Third Shadow"

This cover seems to be straight out of the story.  Are we to believe that the two "Shadows" engaged in deadly conflict are both imposters and that the silhouette is being cast by the true Master of Men?  I guess you'll just have to read the the 98th published story to find out.  However, don't be surprised if there is a twist ending.

 Say what you will about the 1994 Universal film "The Shadow" it sure had some nice visuals.  

"The Voodoo Master"

What can I say about this one.  It's an absolute classic cover and Dr. Rodil Mocquino, aka The Voodoo Master, is an absolute classic super villain.  Although he perishes at the end of this adventure he returns in "The City of Doom" five issues from now and then again in "Voodoo Trail" a couple years down the road.  Hey, if the guy who makes the dead live again can't come back to life then he wouldn't be much of a challenge to The Shadow, would he...

ON THE AIR: December 8, 1940

 This one aired 23 to the day before I was born.  I've always had a bit of a soft spot for this episode.  Killer kittens?  Take a listen to this one and don't confuse it with this pulp adventure that was published in February of the same year.

"The North Woods Mystery"

This is the most recent novel I read.  I have to admit that, as well done as the cover is, I didn't think I'd like this one because of the less than mysterious feel of the cover art.  Again, don't judge a pulp by its cover.  This is a great story that takes place up north in Canada with natives, Chinese, outposts and all sorts of bad guys.  It looks straight forward and then it changes directions.  Then it changes again.  It's Gibson at the top of his game.  Take a trip up north for a few hours with Vincent, L'Ombre/Ying Ko, Marquette and more.  It's a good'un.

"Death Rides the Skyway"

 Not to be confused with the 1937 radio program.  Until I read this I had thought that the wheel hitting The Shadow's windscreen was from an airplane.  The Skyway is actually an elevated freeway.  Heh, I guess you can't judge a book by its cover.  It's a good tale without any super-criminal or cult of killers.  Just a great mystery to challenge The Shadow.
