Avenger Saturday presents: "The Black Death"
Hey, hey, hey... a face glaring at horrific scene playing out on the cover. Is it the satanic leader or our hero, The Avenger? I guess you'll just have to read the tale to find out.

Avenger Saturday presents: "The Happy Killers"
Could almost mistake this for one of the Old West pulp covers. The only thing I think is great about this cover is how they broke the logo with the gun and splintered door. Otherwise... meh.

Professional, indeed. They just took the painting and left a frame with no visible wires to hang from.

Avenger Saturday presents: "The Green Killer"
A pretty action packed cover to start 1942. However, when they took away his grey skin and white hair it's pretty difficult to tell which of these is The Avenger. That unique aspect of the character made him instantly identifiable like Doc Savage and his bronze skin (more so with the Bama covers but still) and, of course, The Shadow. Whether it was the nose or the black costume there was no mistaking the Master of Men.

Another episode that centers around my favorite subject... art. Of course there is murder to involve The Shadow so don't think that it's a snooze. Sit back and enjoy this adventure from a little over 80 years ago. Take note that a familiar detective makes a somewhat rare appearance in the radio series.

Avenger Saturday presents: "Pictures of Death"
This is a pretty boring cover. I'm not sure why Street & Smith and their Art Director would abandon the wonderful cover design that they ran with the first 12. Even with just a ghostly head in the sky would have made this a far better cover. Hmmm, I may just do that...
And I did just that...
Quick mockup, just for fun.
