Murder Every Hour
Love this cover. Since I haven't read this story I didn't know the significance of five o'clock rather than the typical midnight. After reading this review I now understand. Wish the background were something more than a basic green but that is not uncommon for this magazine. Otherwise, a compelling illustration that adds to the pantheon of wonderful covers that graced this great publication.

The Crystal Buddha
My problem has been with the small stature of the .45 that is so often described as a "massive smoke wagon". Otherwise this is a very nice cover that captures the feel of Ying Ko. Emerging from the inky shadows to confront the villain, eventually to put an end to the menace. I haven't read this one yet but will. This review may help any of you who haven't read it yet, either.

Murder House
Great cover! Nice design and an appropriately sinister Master of Men daring the reader to share this latest adventure. I like the symmetry of this piece and, of course, the ring. According to this review the tale, while enjoyable, is forgettable. Still, I look forward to spending some time in the Murder House when it gets reprinted soon.

House of Silence
A blah cover, mostly because of the boring use of the female figure. I actually like the image of The Shadow and think if the left side of the painting were better thought out this would be a really nice cover. Originally submitted as "The House of Death" I think the published title creates a better mood. I think that this will be a good read when I get the chance as this review seems to be positive. Hey, it's The Shadow, it's a pretty good chance that it will be a fun adventure.

Intimidation, Inc.
A nice concept that could have been an exciting cover. But it comes off cramped and not too awful exciting. This needs more tension and a sense of danger that, although he apparently is hanging from the side of a building just doesn't feel too "intimidating". I haven't read the story but this review doesn't rank it that high. But try it for yourself.

Remember
It has been a little over one hundred years since the "War to End All Wars" began, the war that spawned our fictional hero The Dark Eagle, aka The Shadow. Take some time today to remember the true heroes who have served our country and especially those who gave their lives for us and the generations to come.

Mobsmen on the Spot
Probably the way the mysterious voice was imagined, this image appeared earlier as the cover of "The Death Tower" from January '32. The title was changed from "The Shadow Fights the Rackets", a good decision. I read this one years ago when it was reprinted in paperback form. A wonderful early adventure that really made me a fan and, if you haven't read it, will remind you why we love this character so much. Check out this review if you can't find a copy to read. But, as you can see by the covers below, there really isn't a reason you can't find one.

Wizard of Crime
From 1943 this is the second novel to carry the title. The rendering of the hand is good if the cover really isn't. Hate the way the blood is painted and The Shadow as well. The dollar signs are pretty goofy, as well. Oh, well, they can't all be classics. The story I can't vouch for but I'll take John's word that it's a good one. This was the last novel published as a twice monthly and in pulp size. The magazine went to a digest format after this. Of course, it returned to pulp size for the final four issues but by then the industry had changed and with it, The Shadow's fate.

The Black Master
You are correct, Agent T, the basics of the hero we come to know are present in this very early representation of The Shadow. Here is the review of one of the great early cases of the original Dark Knight. Read this novel if for no other reason than to read these lines "The secret of The Shadow," came the monotonous voice. "At last it is understood! The man of many faces - with no face of his own!"
