Ghost of the Manor
I wish the rendering of our hero was better but the use of the notes brings us into the sanctum of The Shadow. I always enjoy seeing renderings of the props that Gibson describes, it immerses me deeper and more fully in the story.

Five Ivory Boxes
Another fun "hands" cover. The rendering isn't the best but I love the design and the pulp feel of this one. I guess I'm going to have to try harder to stump Agent T. If you care to read a review of this story, go here.

The Shadow's Shadow
Ah, what a fun cover. Wish I had a better image of this story. The colorful shadows crossing "paths" set a great tone for this early tale that, I'm sure, jumped off of the newsstand and into the hands of many a fan. This story introduced the Dark Eagle persona and also alluded to the "horror face" as well as again speaking to the Shadow's weekly radio broadcast. I love the early stories as Gibson explored and very ably created a rich and yet mysterious character and his world. For those interested a very brief review of this great tale can be found here.

The Green Terror
I agree, Bill. This cover could have been on any lesser magazine and was not particularly interesting. I just thought it might make for a tougher find.
As to the story itself, this was one of Theodore Tinsley's stories and so the tale is more lurid and "pulpy" than Walter's. Some like that and others not so much. The review can be found here.

Wizard of Crime
Another dull cover. Lots of potential but it looks as if the AD went to sleep on this. Some good pulp elements with the green hand (greed) drenched in blood and The Shadow firing away are lost to the really bad use of the dollar signs. I also have never been a fan of The Shadow being smaller than the villains so I'm not a fan of this cover. Pity, it really could have been cool. The Black Dragon
You got it, Agent Thinnes. This story was written at the height of America's involvement with the Japanese during WW2. Can't say much for the cover, pretty uninspired. If you are interested in a review of this one, click here.

What cover am I?
Again, a bit of image to challenge you to come up with the answer. Heh heh heh ha ha ha ha ha. Okay, a bit over the top.

The Death Giver
Well, I'm back and I'll start off with "The Death Giver" in both it's awesome original pulp form and then the wonderfully adventure laden HB Jove cover by Steranko. I like both for different reasons and think they make great contrasting concepts. If you want to read a review of this story, go here.

Still down
but I'm now up with my new job's Dell system. If I can figure out how to use a Flash drive formatted to a Mac on a PC, I'll get back to business as usual.

Pardon the interruption
I am having OSX problems on my home system so I will be unable to post until they are resolved. Probably a good time for a break anyhow.

Battle of Greed
I love the design of this cover but really don't care for the execution of it. I know, I know, I'm a snob when it comes to art. You can read a review of this tale here.
