Saturday's random pulp cover: The Spider: Secret City of Crime: February, 1943

This is one of those covers that the reader just has to suspend belief in order to enjoy the action.  I won't point out the things that make no sense, just revel in the heroism on full display!

Saturday's random pulp cover: Adventure: Bush Devils: May 1, 1931

This is one gorgeous cover.  The colors pop so intensely and the composition is eye-catching that I don't think I could have passed this on the newsstands and not picked it up.  Perfect pulp.

ON THE AIR: September 30, 1985

Okay, let's give a little love for that other pulp icon, Clark "Doc" Savage, Jr.  This is the short series that aired in 1985 and starred Robert Towers as Doc.  It is nowhere as good as The Shadow series but I thought y'all might care for a change of pace.  If you are of a mind to spend 24 minutes of your time, take a listen to episode one in the serial Fear Cay titled "Kidnapped".

The cast of "The Adventures of Doc Savage" pose for a photograph during production in 1985. Left to Right: Art Dutch (Ham), Robin Riker (Pat), Bill Ratner (Renny), Danny Chodos (Doc), Bob Towers (Monk), Kimit Muston (Johnny), and Scott McKenna (Long Tom).  Courtesy of The Pulp.Net
