Saturday's random pulp cover: Detective Story Magazine: "The Crimson Clown's Threat" May 2, 1931

 Creepy clowns have been around a long time.  Perhaps Pennywise is related to this homicidal drunk in white face.  I guess you'll just have to track an issue down and read Mr. McCulley's ha-ha-harrowing tale.
