Saturday's random pulp cover: Dime Detective Magazine "Monogram in Lead"
Another nod to the Doc Savage hero archetype. The Damsel. The Yellow Peril. Impending violence. All in all, a great cover. I wonder if the story did the artwork justice.

Perfume to die for! Something smells funny about this adventure of The Shadow! Sit back, relax and be careful when you walk through the beauty departments this holiday season. Beware of that clerk who wants to spritz you with a sample! The Scent of Death is in the air!

The Shadow: Year One #2
Nice imaging of The Sanctum. I really loved the covers that Alex Ross did for this series. Well... for all of the Shadow books Dynamite ran. He's a stellar addition to the great cover gallery artists that made The Shadow so popular.

Saturday's random pulp cover: Dime Mystery Magazine "Bride of the Mummy "
Gotta love these fantastic imaginings. Could almost see Doc Savage as the hero trying to free the damsel. Just a wonderful image. Heck, look who wrote this one, The Avenger scribe himself!

Apparently only the second half of this episode has survived the ravages of time. I'm sure we all can figure out the first half to a degree that gets us up to speed when the second part opens. Evil doctors, scary kitty cats and a frantic Margot panicking at nothing. Take a couple of minutes and use your imagination when you listen to "Death by Imagination".

Saturday's random pulp cover: G-8 and His Battle Aces "Squadron of the Flying Dead"
I've never read any G-8 but there are some pretty wild covers chronicling his adventures. This one struck me as one that might be attributed to Kent Allard when he flew as The Dark Eagle.

ON THE AIR: January 12, 1947
An expensive cat collar around the furry neck of a Siamese cat that was intended for Davy Jones' locker brings Lamont (aka The Shadow) to the waterfront. Shrevvy and Margot lend their unintentional help (as usual) that brings this episode "The Cat and the Killer" to the end that happens in all of The Shadow's adventures. Crime does not pay!

Avenger Saturday presents: "Demon Island" paperback
The last of the Avenger paperbacks and they end on a high note. This really feels like a Bama composition and it's executed in a similar manner. As a bonus I'm including the art without the logo or title. This is a pretty nice modern pulp painting.

ON THE AIR: January 5, 1947
Seems this would have been better aired on Halloween. So, I guess it's appropriate that I'm posting this during Halloween week. Three days late but better than 2 months like they did back in '47. This would have aired on my Dad's 5th birthday. Not that it matters to anyone else but me... Anyhow, enjoy this harrowing tale of lycanthropy and friendship as Lamont and Margot find themselves in a scary house with a mystery on their hands.
