If The Shadow had been used in WW2 propaganda
Just a little "What If" kind of poster. I saw the original online and thought that the "scales of Justice" concept fit our hero quite well. Just playing around.

Nic Klein does The Shadow
Nic is currently the artist on Thor. He does some incredible work. This feels like he was inspired by Bill Sienkiewicz's turn as The Shadow artist.

Radio advertisement
Not sure where or when this would have appeared but it seems to be some sort of advertisement for the radio program. If it were for the comics they would have used artwork by Vernon Greene. If it were for the magazine they would have used any number of illustrations or covers. Movies, ditto. I guess that this is for a local or regional radio station or for a group of stations owned across the country by one company. It matters not, it's just an odd bit of artwork.

"Fireworks Part Three" page 9
"Please. I am in the middle of a delicate operation. One threatened by the Black-Cloaked Man who seems to be protecting you and the boy."

ON THE AIR March 19, 1939
Well, it's been a bit over a year since I started bringing you these episodes on the date 82 years after the original airings. This is the last episode of Season 2 and there won't be another "new" episode until September 24th, when Season 3 began. So, starting next week, I am going to jump back in time (so to speak) to the first Orson Welles episode "The Death House Rescue" and run the 16 preserved episodes prior to "The Silent Avenger" and catch up with all this. I'll figure out something to fill out the other Fridays until the next season begins.
Until then, enjoy "Can The Dead Talk" from March 19, 1939.

What I'm reading now
Before I get back to The Shadow adventures I've been taking a little detour. I just finished "The Return of Tarzan" and am almost through "The Federalist Papers" (a slog but very eye opening to me). I spent a little time with the book "Be Water My Friend" by Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee. I have the lastest Clive Cussler (inspired) novel "Fast Ice" sitting on my bed stand but that will have to wait until I have finished
This is the first novel I've read dealing with the post Star Trek The Motion Picture adventures of the crew. Bennett has done a lot of in-universe research and it's fun to see how he has incorporated TOS with TAS and ST:Enterprise as well as some of the other novels by other authors. I believe he even referenced a bit of Spock background from ST Discovery, although it could be that Discovery took it from one of the novels. I don't read a lot of Trek so I'm not up on all of the different backstories that aren't filmed.
After I'm done with this I will be delving back into the murky world of Ying Ko!

Evolution of a (bad) cover
If this last cover is the direction they are going all I can say is it's better than the first pass. At least they are trying (feebly) with a "logo" and the collar. Hate the tag line "Crime has a new enemy." New? Really? I really don't hold out much hope for this reboot. I will, of course, read it. Probably as soon as it hits the stands. I'd love to be proven wrong and that this is a great direction for a great character. And perhaps Shiwan Khan has cast a mist over my mind...

ON THE AIR March 5, 1939
Lamont Cranston and Margot Lane overhear a shortwave radio message of an international spy who is planning to steal a new warplane.
This episode is also known as "Death by Violence," due to the final speech given by The Shadow; "I hate to see any man die by violence, but if that man dedicates his life to the evil task of plotting and espionage against a friendly country, then he faces but one fate, that fate is justly -- death by violence."
The above information was taken from The Shadow Wiki
If you want to spend a bit of time immersed in the past take a listen to "Sabotage by Air".

Paul Orban and "The Crimson Death"
A few interior illustrations by Paul Orban. Not my favorite interior illustrator for The Shadow but still some quality work.
