The Circle of Death
Answer to the very simple puzzle clew from Wednesday. Not a favorite of mine, too graphic for such an early pulp. I have, however, read this one. A fun read and one that Mr. Olsen enthusiastically recommends. Give it a go.

A favorite image of mine from The Shadow (1994)
Although I didn't care too much for the reason the image was in the film I always liked how this looked.

The Spider Boy
I really want to read this one since it seems to be based on the November 11, 1945 radio episode of "The Spider Boy". I was never a fan of this particular episode. Still, I'd like to see how it was translated into the comics medium. If you haven't heard the radio episode click here to listen https://free-classic-radio-shows.com/Sci-Fi-Horror/The-Shadow/1941-1946/1945-11-11-Spider-Boy/index.php

Argh
Yes, this is a great and classic cover. However, the second story deserves to have it's own cover as well. "Charg, Monster", while not one of my top favorites as a novel, is one of my all time favorite covers. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Sigh, I guess I'm going to have to save up for an actual pulp of this one.
I'm happy for Agent T as "The Silent Death" is possibly his favorite cover I still think I will be pouting over this one for some time to come.

A little more for Agent J
It "seams" that the villain has something else up his sleeve, but keep that under your hat, at least for this post.

Red Mask vs The Shadow
Eh, a so so cover. I never like seeing The Shadow's face revealed, especially when it doesn't look like our hero. (Where's that famous nose?!) That and the villain's garb is darker than The Shadow's. And where did the blood come from? I like the bad guy though.

The Talon
The Talon apparently is Evil's Greatest Genius! A pretty weak cover, mostly because the face is really poorly done. Still, I'd like to read this and the entire run at some point. Innocent fun when comics weren't so heavy in their content.

What I'm reading right now
About 2/3s of the way through this fun little mystery. Was hoping to make it all of the way through while I was on the road for my day job. Alas, no luck in finishing this one yet. Hope to have it done this weekend, though. Love this cover (Hands and rings! Oh, yeah). A secret society of philanthropists who may have a less than noble end game in mind. Throw in some greedy heirs who are poking their noses into business that may end badly and you've got a terrific tale of The Shadow. I'll report my final thoughts after I finish this.

And the answers are...
1) The year
2) The coil
3) The Shadow's ring
4) The eyes of The Shadow
5) The left hand of the villain
6) An extra page in the book
7) Rozen is upside down
So close, Agent J. The coil is a bit hard to see. Thanks for playing.

Ah, the mysterious East
This villain reminds me of the pulp I'm reading right now, "The Ghost Makers". Kind of curious if they based this comic tale off of the fake mystics that Gibson visited fairly often.

Who did it better?
A couple of great images with a similar feel to them. My question for you is...
Who did it better?
George Rozen
or Michael W. Kaluta
There is no right or wrong answer here. Just a little fun to start the week off.

What's The Difference #15
Seven differences between the two covers. Spend a few moments this weekend and drop an answer by B Jonas.

We need The Shadow now more than ever
With Putin posturing about Russia's strategic priorities and North Korea being, well, North Korea; our own internal strife (regardless of which side of the spectrum you fall on) and China's Xi Jinping basically setting himself up as a Khan... I think we could use someone like The Shadow to bring balance to an increasingly unbalanced world. Sure, Blood & Thunder may be too much but someone fighting for the right and not a political agenda would be nice for a change.
