One of Graves Gladney's covers where he features a scene rather than an concept. I like the iconic conceptual covers much better and the more mythical Shadow than the one who seems much more a man in a cloak than an avenger spectre. Not that it's poorly done, it just could have been any pulp cover on the stand if not for the masthead and the silhouette outside the window.
I haven't read the story by Theodore Tinsley but you can get an inkling by clicking here.

Smugglers of Death
Eh, about as close to "Spicy Detective" that our cover art ever got to. Not particularly well done, in my opinion. Was the story, submitted as "Smuggler's Choice" better than the cover? Check here if you want to get an idea.

The Money Master
Weak cover. Rozen had lost a lot of his steam by this time. Too bad, it could've been a really cool cover considering it was a War era Shadow story. I haven't read it but you can get an idea here.

The Silent Seven
I agree, Agent T. Not the way I want to see The Dark Eagle. However, this is an early one and I do love those little "crypt keeper" vignettes at the lower right corner of the cover. A gray suit and brown socks?!?! And that gun ain't exactly a smokewagon! Still, I love the early stuff as we get to see (via covers and interior art) and read how our hero comes to be The Shadow we all know and fear. If you haven't read this, the seventh story published, do so as soon as you can. In the meantime please check out a very brief synopsis here.

Crime's Stronghold
I kind of like this one (although the low resolution of the image file could be helping with that). There is the antagonist with the drop (or not) on The Dark Eagle himself. The fact that Rozen forced the left hand with the (oh yeah!) ring into the image lets us feel that The Shadow will pull some lever at the last possible second to save the day. The confined nature of the composition helps with the urgency of the situation. Yeah, I kinda like this one. Check out the synopsis to get an idea of the story once titled "Stronhold of Crime".

Double Z
A much better cover using the graphic element of letterforms than "Q". I agree with Agent T about the eye. It is fantastic and pierces right to that dark corner of my mind that makes me think that I wouldn't want to have this man on my trail, for any reason. Great cover. I read this story back in the Pyramid days so I look forward to reading it again when Anthony Tollin reprints it.

Q
Eh, not that great of a cover. Of course, that's only my opinion. For some reason this reminds me of the later digests, probably because of the abstract use of the graphic 'Q'. Wish the "broad brimmed, slouch hat" were more than the slouch fedora he seems to be sporting. As I've said before, so many covers that not all of them can be iconic. Charg, Monster
Sorry Agent T, I have to say that I love this cover. Very strong design, the smokewagon, the ring... It is iconic even without the man in black. I read the story when I was a kid back in the Pyramid/H B Jove days and I preferred the Steranko cover to this one. What can I say, I grew up.
