Crime Over Boston
I agree, Agent T. Not a great or even good cover. The rendering of The Shadow is nice, though. However, the overall composition and doesn't look right and I don't feel the tension and urgency that trying to throw a young woman down a hole in the floor/dock should generate. The story? Check it out here.

Murder Marsh
Woo hoo, another ring painting. It's a well designed cover, even if the concept is a bit uninspired, but the ring makes it all worth it. In my opinion, at least. I don't have any idea what the story, submitted as "Mystery Mansion", is like but this may give you a reason to read it.

Clue For Clue
Meh... not my favorite cover. I also don't like the fact that the villain got the drop on The Shadow! Since I haven't read this story, I don't know if that is supposed to be bullet proof glass between them. Eh, gotta take the good with the bad.

The Golden Master
The first of the four part epic that spawned the villain most synonymous with The Shadow. I do love this cover and can find no fault with it. I have to admit, I haven't read the stories but I will get to them in due time. In the meantime, anyone interested in an overview of this tale can check it out here.

The Embassy Murders
"The Man With The Limp" was the title submitted by WBG. Probably would have had a much different cover painting and that would have been a shame. I love this cover and think that with the gridlock in our government today this is a most apropos image and, I dare say, one I wish could be used to kick those in charge right in their collective keisters! I would really love to own this issue simply for this cover.

Hills of Death
Submitted as "Treasure Lodge" this cover reminds me of a Men's Adventure type magazine cover. It's okay as an image and pretty well rendered. Oh, well, not all can be classics.

In answer to your challenge...
This is when actually owning all of the pulps would come in handy. As near as I can see with the small images, throwing out partial hands and gloved hands, I come up with eleven. I'm sure you will correct me here and I am actually looking forward to the lesson, oh wizened one.

Treasures of Death
Right you are, Agent T. Good to have you back. I haven't read this one but here is the link to a brief overview of this early tale, originally titled "Treasure Death". Love the cover, by the way, for all of the usual reasons.

The Blue Sphinx
Fun cover that seems almost poster like in its graphic nature. I could see the bottom portion being extended and a blurb regarding the sale of an upcoming issue of The Shadow Magazine. If you are interested in knowing more about the tale behind this cover just click here.
